Welcome to 'Microbes Rule the Waves' blog site for 2019

The idea of the blog is that all members of the class post short items interpreting recent research papers that you have read. Other members can read these and comment on the posts. In this way, we will build up an exciting picture of the latest developments in this fast-moving subject. If everyone contributes and follows the blog regularly, we will have a great resource to supplement the lectures and seminars. Although it requires quite a lot of work and regular inputs (for me as well as you!), this collaborative effort will also be a great revision aid for the exam. (You will take a list of all the references cited into the exam and this will help you to write high quality, research-informed answers.) Past students have given very positive feedback and we hope that you also find this an enjoyable way of learning!

Although this is a closed site for staff and students of MBIO322 and is not publicized externally, posts can be picked up by external readers via search tools on the internet. For example, if you write about a recent paper, it is very likely that the author will be tracking any mention of her/his paper and will see it. You will have the excitement of knowing that your work is being read widely and you may receive some interesting comments and feedback from authors or other scientists.

Comments from external readers are welcome, but all external comments have to be moderated by me before publication, and I will not publish any that I consider unsuitable. Comments from other readers will not influence the assessment grade that you receive.
